[FamilyofGod] about fear of rejection
In the centre of my uncut grass
Some dandelions raise their yellow heads and bloom
Early in the year, they were huge flowers, strong and hopeful
And I dug them all out.
These are small and delicate, humbled by constant rejection
ANd somehow their wild glory touches me
More than the garden full of cultivated magnificence.
Though I tore out leaves an droots diligently
A few weeks of negligence
And up they pop.
And their tinyness seems to whisper
"Please, just let us bloom."
Little dandelions, go ahead, live!
I see you, perky and bright
Like me.
Somebody nobody wants.
But who keeps popping into people's lives anyway
No matter how often I'm pulled up by the roots.
I just want my day in the sun.
I don't require fertilizer to be a friend.
Nor constant watering
Just a smile once in a while will do.
A chance to be in the garden of your life
Not for anything you can give
Just let me bloom for you
And cheer your heart for a fleeting moment
Before you dig me up and throw me away.
