[Church_of_Christ] Re: Can you guess?
Gerry Parker asked:
I must ask, did you know this man?
Clay's response: I must answer, as well as I know the Apostle Paul.<grin>
Could it be possible that you (we) are guilty of the very thing you accuse Dr.Baxter of ?
Clay's response:
Sure it is possible Gerry, I am "still" struggling" to climb my way out of the brain washing I received for the last 50 years. I'm convinced there are MANY truths to yet be discovered if they continue to come to me at the rate they have been coming to me over the last 10 years.
That's why I have CEASED to be divisive with anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord to be saved. I'm letting God "weed them out" and all I can do now is LOVE them and LOVE my CoC Brethren and TRY to cause us to "at least" relook at what has propelled us to the top of the rung, on being divisive.
We do know the early Christians did assemble on the first day of the week from scripture. This sure seems like a "thus saith the lord to me."
Clay's response:
We also know they were FREE to determine what ever day thay assembled on. I think Sunday was and is an excellant IDEA to exalt and make Holy in our own minds and heart.
That's the "Thus saith the Lord" I see Paul conveying with "authority" in Romans 14. How foolish is it to then ignore an actual "thus saith the Lord "teaching" for an "example" of followers obeying that very "Thus saith the Lord" of being free to choose "special days" and then US being divisive because other followers do not exercise their freedoms JUST LIKE WE DO and choose Sundays as well?
Yes, you are correct in that laws have been made where God has made none. I was listening to David Jeremiah speak to the topic of assembling together just yesterday. He said "YES you can be a Christian and not go to church. But why would you want to do that". I agree with him.
Clay's response:
I agree with Him too and I pray that Grace will cover them for failing to assemble in order to edify and be edified regardless of what day he does so and regardless of where that meeting occurs. Hebrews 10.
Good to talk with you again in an environment of where "WE EACH" can take turns and dialogue the word together in love. I find it so much more edifying than a 30 minute lecture where the women must remain silent, not to mention, us going beyound what's written and requiring the men to be silent as well.
Grace and peace to you my brother, Clay
