Gerry, you said.... We do know the early Christians did assemble on the first day of the week from scripture.

"ONE" time scripture tells us that they assembled on the first day. Acts 20:7 states...."when the "Christians came together" TO BREAK BREAD, Paul preached to them. Because he was leaving the next morning. How do we know that they were not meeting every day and Sunday just happened to be the "only" day that Paul could schedule joining them. If you were Paul and you were on a missionary journey today and you came to my town on a Tuesday and it was the "only" day that you could give my congregation your inspired word....would you do it on Tuesday or just keep on trucking cause it wasn't Sunday? What if???? the scriptures had stated that the Christians came together and listened to you on Tuesday....would that have been a binding "thus saith the Lord" for us to meet on Tuesday of "every" week just because you couldn't do it any other day? Is it not possible under any circumstances that the reason Paul met with them on Sunday was because he "had" to leave the next day? This is not a command....it is just theory that they met "every" first day of the week.
