[Church_of_Christ] Holy Spirit: Then and Now
To Ed, Clay, and other readers:
By now most have noticed the direction this discussion goes. It is perfectly normal for cessationists to get into history and present their views.
The reason I have not used historical examples or current examples is because these are not the evidences that support the Spirit's ministry. The scriptural promises of God and the prophecies of Jesus are the founcation. If we say that the gifts are not for us, history will not help. If we say the gifts are for us, history will not hinder.
To properly deal with spiritual gifts, we must begin where the bible begins with the issues. If we disagree on the Joel prophecy and the words of Jesus, we are at an impasse.
I'm happy to keep discussing. Ongoing points will simply demonstrate the truth of my position.
