I can say I know God because I have a relationship with Him. And that relationship includes scripture but goes beyond it into personal intimacy through the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Yes, my interpretations may not be correct, but that can not be generalized. I have some convictions that I am fully convinced are not in error. There are certain doctrines I hold to that if pushed to admit it, I would tell you flatly "there is no possible way I am wrong on this".
There are other issues where I would freely confess that I might be wrong. I am fully willing to admit I might be in error on some things, but at this particular moment, I believe I am right on those things too, and my daily experience confirms them.
You had asked me at one point if it's possible for me to be wrong. Of course it is, but I am not willing to concede that I might be wrong on all doctrine. I believe in convictions. Some things have to be non-negotiables. On those issues, I will not admit that I might be in error.
Norman, one major difference between us might be that you seem to take a more intellectual road to faith, while I take a relational road.
That is how it looks.
Ray
