[Church_of_Christ] Re: Creeds
Morning Bro Cole:
You said: Yes, bro. Clay, I simply consider a creed similar to a good gospel hymn
of like Biblical truths. "Up from the grave he arose" Remember that one?
Clay's response:
Yes, it is ONE of my many favorites
1. Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior, waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord! Refrain: Up from the grave he arose; with a mighty triumph o'er his foes; he arose a victor from the dark domain, and he lives forever, with his saints to reign. He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose! 2. Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior, vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord! (Refrain) 3. Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior; he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord! (Refrain)
Well that is EXACTLY what it is Bro Cole if we do not sing it but merely quote it.
I really believe "WE" in the CoC have "hunted" reasons to be distinct.
I have heard that word disguised to promote division until I cringe to this day!
We MUST maintain our distinctive plea.
What "many" of us mean is, "WE" must maintain our divisive plea.
If those that still harp on that, keeo it up, it will be our "Destructive Plea"
Paul NEVER taught division, NEVER!
Paul taught Unity of the Spirit, NOT division in the flesh.
Now there are times we need to roundly refuse fellowship with other followers of the Christ.
1) One that calls himself a brother and denies Jesus came in the flesh.
2) One that considers him self a brother and openly and with out shame commits sin's of the flesh.
3) One that considers himself a brother and promotes "physical works of the flesh" above Grace.
There may be another, but off the top of my head, these are the only 3 that we are "COMMANDED"
Grace and peace Clay
