Yes, it makes sense, but that's not what TELLING SOMEONE WHAT TO BELIEVE means.
I never said I wouldn't WANT YOU as a member. I said you couldn't BE a member there. Churches do have statements of faith that are required to assent before placing membership. I hope I never place membership with a church that doesn't have one.
Personally, I would love to visit Joelton, have a meal with the church, visit with you, talk to other members. That would be great. But when it comes to membership, my first question would be "What is your statement of faith?" And if the answer was 'the bible is our only statement of faith' I would politely decline membership, but would feel free to visit at any time.
