[Church_of_Christ] Re: Denominatioin?
Clay, Ray & Cole, ED replying
Bro Cole said: I agree with Ray. I can't find any denomination who use any aspect of the CENI hermeneutic to render exclusive methods in Christianity. I do find some who use Biblical examples and inferences, but they don't practice them as exclusive to a right standing with God as do the CoC. That is the difference.
ED: This is the precise difference that led to the "Declaration and Address" by TC and the RM. Creeds and such had been preventing denominational folks from logically applying what they understood without forsaking their sectarian beliefs.
Clay's response: The more "smoke screen" someone can lay down, that makes one's self "appear" to be superior to laity, that Laity dare not question the Clergy out of fear, the more they are capable of misleading those that are being held captive by "hush and remain seated." NOT JUST Female in the assembly, but males as well. It really doesn't matter what tool one uses to understand the scriptures, when conclusions are so warped and inconsistent, that even the least learned in the midst
of the hearers sees it as well, no one listens any longer. Soon they grow tired of inconsistent conclusions and the speaker
loses his audience and they begin to attend somewhere else or the y simply trip over the stumbling block and go back into the world. Anyone that honestly believes EXAMPLES of a freed people, released from "worship law" at the death of Jesus on the cross, MUST be adhered to on the same level as a direct Command (a thus saith the Lord) from God just isn't thinking rationally. If they are sincere, it is the result of brain washing. To be so nieve as to believe that God just forgot to give us any "new worship law" to replace those previous worship laws that man is no longer required to obey is really DUMB in my opinion. Sorry to be so blunt but I can't think of a better way to put it.
ED: All I can speak for is myself. I assure you as Christian to Christian I have no intention of putting up "smokescreens" or making "superior" appearance to intimidate. I do believe a forum is for discussion and I will not be intimidated by you or anyone else intimating that I or others are trying to do something like this (which you probably aren't doing, only referring to someone else, who knows who? But which others could very well associate with me since your statement is so openended). I participate to both learn and share what I have learned. I offer it and it can be used or ignored. It is forced on no one. I will argue vigorously for what I believe. I will try to refrain from personal attacks becaue I believe that is what Christians do. I have discovered, however, others do not always distinguish between what is a personal attack and what is addressing an argument. Inasmuch as this is so often the case, do you think that they might not be so adept at understanding arguments as well? Perhaps, parhaps not. I suppose each judges for himself.
