Kent, OUTSTANDING observations here. Personally, I hope everyone reads your post even if they miss the discussion between Ed and I. The I Cor 13 passage is so incredibly vague that ping-pong is the only way to discuss it.
As for your comment about human logic not being trustworthy, I do disagree there. All exegesis of scripture demands a certain amount of logic. If we don't trust logic, the bible, and all other sources, are useless. HOWEVER, the Spirit is also to be trusted, so we can rest in Him.

Ed and I will each be convinced in our own minds that we are right. That much is certain. But trying to get Ed to believe my position was never my goal. I debate to bring understanding, not a change of mind. Perhaps Ed will better understand my view by the end.
I know I better understand his already.
