[Church_of_Christ] Re: Holy Spirit 3
Greetings Ray, ED once again,
Ray: I'm not trying to make believers possess anything. I'm just discussing why cessationism is an error and that the Holy Spirit is available.
ED: I say Clay's post to you and sense the frustration he has trying to help you understand. I, too, feel the same frustration. I wasn't going to bother any further, but your statement above requires a response because it is clearly a falsehood. You equate cessationism (as you identify it) with the HS being unavailable. This is simply false. I never said the HS is unavailable. I wrote and believe that everyone who repents and is baptized receives the gift of the HS, is indwelled by the HS, is led of the HS. I have written this before, so for you to calculatingly deny it raises the question of why? Of course, I am in no position to answer what I cannot see - another's heart and motive. But if I were arguing from your position, I certainly understand that if I could persuade others that to be a cessationist equals no HS, I would create a very strong bias against cessationists. Now, to do that requires deception, because it is a lie to say cessationists hold such a view.
Ray: I make references to bible passages all the time in these discussions. Just because I don't give BCV doesn't mean I'm not using the bible.
ED: In biblical discussion, an unwillingness to provide book, chapter and verse, is generally regarded as not having b,c,v. Moreover, it is the source of frustration to those who disagree since nothing is provided that one can sink their teeth into. In fact it simply does not represent what is generally regarded, certaijnly what I regard, as biblical discussion. So I would encourage you, as does Clay, please provide us with evidence, not declarations. Please provide book, chapter and verse.
