There may be truth in this, but from my point of view this is drastically oversimplified, and it's not where I would begin in analyzing the NT.
I'm not really sure why we care HOW they did things as much as the benefits or goals of WHAT they did. There seems an exaggerated emphasis many times on 'how did the early church do this?"
I don't really care HOW the early church did anything. What I want to know is WHAT the New Covenant relationship looks like in 21st century America. How does the HOly Spirit indwelling work itself out in corporate worship?
This gets into a lot of issues, but your starting point is one that I ababandoned a long time ago because it doesn't go deep enough to get to the heart of the issue. It's like starting in the middle.
