ED before: The spiritual gifts of signs and wonders ended in the first century as prophesied.
Ray: They were not prophecied to end in the first century. I Cor. 13:8 - 10 does not give a date.
ED: No? The ended when all the parts had been received and therefore it was no longer "in part" but "whole". This is the meaning of the Greek word "teleios", translated "perfect"; that is perfect in the sense of being whole as opposed to partial. The spiritual gifts were "in part", meaning what? Their intended purpose was to reveal and confirm God's revelation. Each time a gift was used, revelation was either delivered or confirmed; but "in part". But when the "whole" comes, the "in part" ceases. That is pretty simple stuff.
Has the faith been once for all delivered or is there more to be expected, Ray?
